Simulation Neuroscience Connectomics |
Joe Tharayil is a PhD Student in the Connectomics Section of the Simulation Neuroscience Division. At Blue Brain, Joe works on coupled electromagnetic-electrophysiological modeling, with a primary focus on modeling EEG signals produced by neural circuits. He also works on simulating electromagnetic stimulation of neurons. Prior to becoming a PhD candidate, he worked at Blue Brain as a Student Assistant, while simultaneously, working as an engineering intern in the group of his co-advisor, Esra Neufeld, at the IT’IS Foundation. Before moving to Switzerland, Joe worked in the Brain Stimulation Engineering Lab at Duke University, and in the Clinical Epilepsy Section of the National Institutes of Health. Joe has a MSc in Life Sciences Engineering from EPFL and a BSE in Biomedical Engineering and Neuroscience from Duke University. Outside of work, he enjoys running, lifting weights and cooking.
