Directions to the Paul Scherrer Institute
Arrival on campus, Sunday 14 September
Please note that the shops and restaurants in Villigen are closed on Sundays, as is the PSI canteen. Groceries are available at larger railway stations (e.g. Zurich airport, Zurich Main Station, Baden or Brugg) or nearby petrol stations in Würenlingen, Brugg or Döttingen.
Students staying at the guesthouse can buy a selection of food and beverages from the FELFEL vending machine in the Time Out building (WBGB). Before first use, please download the FELFEL app for registration, payment options include credit cards and Twint.
By public transport
- Nearest railway stations are Brugg (fast train stop) and Siggenthal-Würenlingen. There are bus services twice an hour, more frequently during morning and evening rush hours, from the two stations to PSI West.From Brugg take bus number 376 in the direction of Döttingen, get off at PSI West (travelling time approx. 18 minutes). From Siggenthal-Würenlingen take bus number 357 in the direction of Brugg, get off at PSI West (travelling time approx. 10 minutes).
By plane
Nearest international airports
- Zurich: take public transport to PSI West (one-way from CHF 23.60), the transfer time is approx. 60 – 85 minutes
- Basel Euroairport: take public transport to PSI West (one-way ~ CHF 34.00), the transfer time is approx. 100 minutes. Note that flights to Basel are sometimes cheaper than those to Zurich.
By car
You can store your luggage at the PSI Guest House or the entrance to the campus west.
By taxi
When arriving by taxi, please request to be taken to the entrance PSI West (Villigen side).

Meeting rooms
Please refer to the course program for the room assignments. All meeting rooms will also be signposted from the west entrance.
Registration in the auditorium building
Registration opens at 10:00 on 15 September in the foyer of the auditorium (WHGA). The location will also be signposted from the bus stops PSI West, the car park and the west entrance.
WIFI
The eduroam service is free-of-charge to users at PSI. Please note that support for guests is provided by their home institutions. A WIFI code (WLAN SSID guest) will be available from Monday morning for those without access to eduroam.
Catering
The welcome reception on Monday, all lunches during the course, refreshments during designated breaks and the school dinner on Thursday are included in the school registration fee.
The OASE and ParkInnovaare restaurants publish their weekly lunch menus in advance.
Please note:
- Refreshments are available 24/7 from the FELFEL vending machine in the Time Out (WBGB) building on the west campus.
- At both PSI restaurants you can buy various dishes to take away during lunchtime (on request).
- Special dietary requirements are catered for at the OASE restaurant, please contact a member of staff.
- Payment at the ParkInnovaare restaurant can be made by credit cards or Twint (no cash or badge payments)
- PSI restaurants are currently not open for evening catering.
