Requirements
Students should already be familiar with both the fundamentals of crystallography and X-ray powder diffraction. The school is otherwise aimed at scientists from the very early to mature career levels, from master and PhD students to senior scientists who need, plan or want to explore the possibilities of materials analysis by X-ray powder diffraction.
Credits
Students who attend all classes and pass an exam may be eligible for two ECTS credits from their universities. Please contact Carey Sargent for more information.
Registration fee
CHF 475 for undergraduate & PhD students
CHF 575 for postdoctoral fellows and staff scientists
This fee includes:
– Access to the school and experimental sessions
– Welcome reception
– Refreshments during designated breaks
– Lunches during the course
– Course dinner
– School materials
The fee does not include VAT where applicable or bank transfer fees, which must be covered by the students.
Payment
Please note that payment is now required upon registration using the PayOnLine platform, which accepts major credit cards, PayPal and Twint. Course fees being paid directly by an EPFL laboratory may be paid by account transfer – please contact Carey Sargent if you are an EPFL student and prefer this method of payment.
Cancellation policy:
Cancellations received in writing by email before 21 August will be refunded minus a CHF50 processing fee. Students who cancel after that date or who do not show up to class will not receive any refund. Registered students may propose a substitute to take their place, but must contact Carey Sargent in advance.
If PSI and CCMX cancel the Powder Diffraction School for any reason, 100% of the fee will be reimbursed.
Neither PSI nor CCMX is responsible for any loss or damage as a result of a substitution, alteration or cancellation of the Powder Diffraction School. Neither PSI nor CCMX shall assume any liability whatsoever in the event that this conference is cancelled, rescheduled or postponed due to an event beyond our control, Act of God, unforeseen occurrence or any other event that renders performance of this conference impractical, illegal or impossible. For purposes of this clause, an event beyond our control shall include, but not be limited to: war, fire, labor strike, extreme weather, or other emergency.
Please note that while speakers and topics were confirmed at the time of publishing, circumstances beyond the control of the organizers may necessitate substitutions, alterations, or cancellations of the speakers and/or topics. As such, the organizers reserve the right to alter or modify the advertised speakers and/or topics if necessary without any liability to you whatsoever. Any substitutions or alterations will be updated on our web page as soon as possible.
