The Centre brings its areas of expertise from various fields of ecotoxicology into scientific projects. Some work is performed in the Centre’s laboratory, some is commissioned to external partners, and the research work is coordinated and then evaluated.
Soil Ecotoxicology
Bioassays are used to determine how pollutants affect soil organisms and soil health.
Sediment Ecotoxicology
Sediments serve as a habitat for many organisms as well as a long-term source of pollutants.
Aquatic organisms often react very sensitive to pollutants and can be used to assess water quality.
Risk Assessment
Using ecotoxicological data the pollutant concentration can be determined above which toxic effects on organisms cannot be excluded
