IRGC acted at the interface between academic research and policy. It operated internationally, primarily in the areas of multi-stakeholder risk governance and public policy relating to emerging technologies. IRGC contributed a risk governance approach to EPFL activities, focusing on how risks can be governed without stifling innovation.
IRGC’s work was rooted in the IRGC Risk Governance Framework, as well as subsequent guidelines that were developed to more specifically address the challenges posed by governance of emerging and systemic risks. These guidelines were applied to a wide range of specific risk domains, and particulary on risks associated with emerging technologies.
The International Risk Governance Cente at EPFL worked in collaboration with the IRGC Foundation. Annual reports covering our activities from 2016-2022 can be found here.
