Suspended and settling particulate Matter in Lake Geneva
Since 2019, the Limnology Center has deployed sediment traps, to collect settling particulate matter near the LéXPLORE platform. To maximise the outputs and approaches, the Limnology Center is collaborating with the Central Laboratory at EPFL, the Ecotox Center, the Sedimentology and Aquatic Geochemistry groups at Eawag. The main subprojects are:
- SEDTRAP: to characterize the fluxes of nutrients, organic and inorganic carbon, as well as the minerals.
- LéXPOCHIRO: to analyse the toxicity using chironomus
- LéXPOSTRAP: to evaluate the toxicity using
- RICH project: to quantify the radiocarbon fluxes in aquatic systems
- MicroSed: to quantify the microplastics in settling matter
- Lake Snow: to characterize the suspended particles using an holographic underwater camera, to track the Rhone River intrusion
