The CYD Fellowships is a talent program for cyber-defence research.  It offers Master Thesis, Doctoral, and Distinguished Postdoctoral fellowships to candidates with an outstanding academic and, if applicable, professional track record.

CYD proof of concept Fellowships aim to support applied research leading towards an innovative product or service with the intention of making a real impact and evaluating the potential for commercialization of such products or services.

The EMBO long-term fellowships are awarded for a period of up to two years and support post-doctoral research visits to laboratories throughout Europe and the world.

The EuroTech Universities Alliance invites highly talented experienced researchers to submit interdisciplinary collaborative research project proposals for one of the fellowships provided by the EuroTechPostdoc Programme.

MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships enhance the creative and innovative potential of researchers holding a PhD and who wish to acquire new skills through advanced training, international, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral mobility. MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships will be open to excellent researchers of any nationality.

Note: The participation of Switzerland in the MSCA Postdoctoral European Fellowships is  excluded as a non-associated third country. However, Switzerland remains eligible to act as outgoing host institution in the MSCA Global Fellowship action.

As part of the Engineering for Humanitarian Action Initiative (EHA) initiative, the goal of the Humanitarian Action Fellowship is to explore joint research ideas between ETH Zurich, EPFL and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) or to support the ICRC to pilot, use or scale research findings from completed Humanitarian Action Challenges (HAC) projects.

​Postdoc.Mobility fellowships are aimed at researchers who have done a doctorate and who wish to pursue an academic career in Switzerland. A research stay abroad enables such researchers to acquire more in-depth knowledge, increases their scientific independence and enhances their research profile.

Transitional measure replacing ERC Consolidator Grants.

The SNSF Starting Grants is an integrative call which covers the SNSF Professorial Fellowships. This grant allows outstanding researchers to lead an independent research project in any disciplines and a team of researchers in CH.

Funding: max. CHF 1.8M for max. 5 years (including applicant’s salary, if applicable). Eligibility: max. 8 years after PhD + min. 3 years of research after PhD.

The SNSF Postdoctoral Fellowships replace the Marie Skłodovska-Curie European Fellowships for the research career development of postdoctoral researchers who are within the first 8 years after their PhD. They may be of any nationality and conduct a research project for 12-24 months at a host organization in Switzerland. They may not have lived or worked for more than 12 months within the last 3 years prior to the submission deadline in CH.

Funding covers the salary of the applicant and CHF 12,000 per year for research costs.

Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are available to post-graduate researchers from over 180 other countries in any discipline who are planning to come to Switzerland to pursue research or further studies at pre-doctoral, doctoral or post-doctoral level. Each application must be backed by a professor.
