Semester projects
DH students starting as of 2022/23 academic year can do a semester project (12 ECTS) as part of their options group.
The duration of semester projects is 14 weeks.

Deadlines and information
Delivery of the report to the lab | 10.01.2025 |
Grades to be handed-in to the Registrar’s office | 10.02.2025 |
Delivery of the report to the lab | 06.06.2025 |
Grades to be handed-in to the Registrar’s office | 14.07.2025 |
Duration of project: 14 weeks with 18 hours of work per week |
Preparation: 30 hours before start of semester |
Report writing and presentation: 30 hours after the end of the semester |
Information on the format and the content of the report is provided by the project supervisor |
Total workload: 312 hours of work for 12 credits |
As per EPFL rules, ECTS credited semester projects are not remunerated |
Instructions for registration to a semester project
- Visit the websites of the different laboratories and groups listed below to find proposed projects
- Reserve your project with the professor in charge
- Discuss your project with the professor and the assistant in charge of the project
- When things are settled with the professor and the assistant in charge of the project, register in IS-Academia
- Contact the Professor in charge of the project to ensure the project is available and can be done by you
- If the Professor agrees, please send the link of the project to the DH Section to obtain authorization for the semester project
- Once you receive the authorization from the DH Section, please register in IS-Academia
- Register your project in IS-Academia from the opening of the registrations as per Registrar’s office academic calendar (please mention two supervisors in the “teacher” field if needed)
- Important: the registration in IS-Academia is the only official registration that will be considered for the semester project
