Today’s world is full of complex and ill-defined issues, such as global warming and social inequalities, which require tomorrow’s engineers and scientists to integrate knowledge, skills and attitudes from engineering, social sciences and design.
The CDH is in a unique position to bring together scientists from disciplines reaching across such a broad spectrum and equipping students with a 21 century skillset.
FIELD
Learning experiences taking place outside of the classroom or in connexion with non-academic stakeholders
Over the years, the CDH has been designing and running international field immersion programs in China (CHIC), India (INSSINC) and South Korea (KimCheese), as well as local workshops (n-visioning tomorrow).
In the process, we have developed and tested different formats and methodologies integrating engineering, design and social sciences

TILT courses
TILT (Track for Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching) is a joint course offering between the University of Lausanne (UNIL) and EPFL, open to students from both campuses.
These courses are taught by inter-institutional teaching teams, combining knowledge and skills from various disciplines (computer sciences, sociology, history, architecture, environmental sciences, design, etc.), drawn from the areas of expertise of EPFL and UNIL researchers.
