Project: “Retrace the mutual impact of literature and the theory by means of an interactive library”

How can we study (and present in a convenient didactical manner) a complex cultural object, e.g. a whole cultural epoch with various interconnections between works, authors, arts and sciences? To meet this challenge, we have chosen to complement quality and depth of close reading by efficiency and rapidity of distant reading through methods and tools of Digital Humanities. The goal of our project is to portray and study the Russian culture of the 1920- 30s, a period of a particularly rich flourishing and fruitful cross-fertilization of literature and humanities. We will do it by implementing a digital library VicoGlossia that combines a structured collection of primo-texts, a repository of secondary literature devoted to these texts, a toolkit of different methods of quantitative research and an interactive space for communication, teaching and further improving the library.
