Summary
Viruses are one of the main mortality causes worldwide and yet, the number of antivirals nowadays available is alarmingly limited. In addition, some viruses evolve very rapidly and may become easily resistant to current antiviral therapies. It is therefore urgent to discover new antiviral compounds and disinfectants to fight against viral pathogens. In the ANTIVIRALPS project we are investigating the interactions between bacteria and viruses autochthonous of Swiss alpine lakes with the ultimate goal to develop a new generation of antivirals of bacterial origin.
