FUSTIC organized an on-site visit of the brand-new platform “La Plaine” in Vufflens-la-Ville on 14th September 2022.
The Platform was inaugurated on 24 and 25 June 2022 and represents a unique consortium of 4 companies: H2M Exploitation, BGO, Henry Recycling, Ecosor.
One of the particularities of the Platform is the synergetic collaboration between four companies in order to optimize urban mining and recycling. At the heart of the project is the desire to reduce the ecological pressure caused by the extraction of natural minerals on the environment, while meeting the growing demand for construction materials.
The consortium welcomed several EPFL ENAC ‘s labs (SXL Structural Xploration Lab, EESD Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics, HERUS Human-Environment Relations in Urban Systems, LDM Media and Design Laboratory LDM) and answered all questions during a guided tour of the site. Researchers were able to discover how mineral materials from deconstruction and aggregates were received, processed and transported. Further collaborations and co-creation projects to boost sustainability in the construction sector will now be explored and launched.
