Climate Change

A broad range of research related to climate change is conducted by IIE affiliated labs, which include feedbacks of atmospheric physics and chemistry (e.g. aerosols, clouds, precipitation), the cryosphere and ecosystems. Many of the labs focus on climate “hotspot” regions (polar, alpine and Mediterranean). Activities cover technology development (in-situ & remote sensing of greenhouse gases, aerosols, clouds and wind), lab & field work, data mining and modelling across local, regional and global scales – including Earth System Model frameworks that are used in CMIP and the IPCC assessments.
