The Xeuss 3.0 laboratory beamline is installed at BCH in Lausanne and allows for Small Angle and Wide Angle experiments with, at present, one single detector and X-ray source (Cu), with applications in nanochemistry, soft matter and the related. The minimum Q-value is (considering instrument configuration only) approximately 0.009 A-1, which allows measuring d-values of up to 690 nm at a detector distance of 1800 mm, the maximium (WAXS) Q-range is approximately 4.9 A-1 (d < 1.5 Å) at a detector distance of 42.5 mm. Samples can be loaded as liquid, powder or solid.
The sample chamber can be kept under vacuum (normal operation) or ambient pressure (dry air or N2).
- Sample stages
- Standard powder, capillary and solid sample stages for transmission measurements
- Two GISAXS/GIWAXS stages for reflection measurements
- Low noise flow cell for measurements in liquid providing very low background (manual injection)
- Tensile stage for transmission measurements with 2 force beams (up to 600 N), temperature range -150 … +350 °C.
Other sample environments / measurement cells can be developped or purchased in collaboration with user groups.
